  23. Later you say the two boxes are side by side, so the answer is: although
  24. you might be able to do this, you don't have to.  Just use a null modem
  25. cable, at least assuming you're talking about a serial port on Win98,
  26. and not a built-in modem.

  28. The null modem cable can a regular modem cable and a null-modem adapter.
  29. Or two modem cables interconnected by a null-modem adapter.
